Tara J. Hoffner focuses her practice on Delaware statutory trusts, common law trusts and the representation of trustees, banks and trust companies in securitization transactions and structured finance transactions, spanning a wide variety of transactional matters and asset classes. She is a director in the Corporate Trust and Agency Services Group of the firm’s Business Department.
Tara serves as counsel to trustees and banking institutions in connection with their trust and agency services in asset securitizations, leveraged lease transactions, structured finance and project finance transactions, and trust preferred transactions. She acts as special Delaware counsel in rendering third-party legal opinions involving matters of Delaware law. Tara also renders a variety of regulatory services relating to intellectual property law and the United States Copyright Office and United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Having expertise on issues relating to captive insurance companies and XXX and AXXX securitization transactions, Tara was a member of the legislative drafting committee for the Delaware Special Purpose Financial Captive Insurance Company statute signed into law in July 2007. She was a featured speaker at the Delaware Captive Insurance Association’s seminar regarding the Delaware legislation. Tara co-authored the article, “Delaware Amends Law to Expressly Provide for Special Purpose Financial Captive Insurance Companies.” Additionally, she is active in transactions involving life insurance products in the capital markets, the life settlement industry and life insurance premium finance transactions.
Tara is active with the American Cancer Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. While in law school, she served on the Dickinson Law Review.
